Rising Rolls update 2

The Children, Education and Families Committee met on 13/12 to discuss the recommendation from Council officials that the first development option (the construction of a new school for Victoria Primary School and a slight adjustment to the catchment boundary for Trinity Primary) proceed to statutory consultation

The Parent Council sent the letter attached in support of this recommendation.

I am pleased to report that the recommendation was approved, with a couple of amendments:

  1. The sibling guarantee for families with children at Trinity Primary School at the time of the catchment change was incorporated into the proposals.
  2. The Council undertook to consider ways in which the Victoria Primary School building could be retained as a community facility in the event of the school moving to new premises.

Further, the Rising Rolls working group at Trinity has been given the go-ahead to consider "outdoor play space" as part of the conversation about any additional build required for 2018.

Watch out for further communication from us in the New Year as the statutory consultation proceeds.

In the meantime many thanks to the parent body and to Mrs Scott and the staff at Trinity for your contributions to this process so far.

Helen Duncan
